The Ecovacs Deebot T80 Omni, which empties its own bin and washes its own mop, was Rs 79,999. Prices change often, so check the live price before you buy.

I write about floor-cleaning tools for Indian homes with tile and marble floors. The honest truth is that "does it clean" and "is it worth the money" are two different questions. A robot vacuum can absolutely save you time. But only for the right home. Let me give you the India numbers, the real limits, and a simple way to decide.

• Corners and edges: a round robot can only reach so far into a corner. You still need to hand-clean there.

A robot vacuum costs about Rs 12,000 to Rs 1,35,000 in India, going by the branded Amazon.in listings we checked on 28 September 2026. Branded entry models, such as the Milagrow Seagull (3,000 Pa), start near Rs 12,000. Models with laser navigation start near Rs 14,000. Self-emptying models start near Rs 22,000, such as the ILIFE A30 Pro at Rs 21,900. Flagship "Omni" robots that also wash their own mop run from about Rs 60,000 up.

So the price gap is wide. What you pay for, above the basic level, is smarter navigation and less daily effort from you.

Buyer-guide data: NoBroker's 2026 guide puts popular models at roughly Rs 13,000 to Rs 65,000. Live listings now go higher at the top. On 28 September 2026, the Ecovacs Deebot N50 Pro Omni was Rs 59,995 and the Ecovacs Deebot X11 OmniCyclone was Rs 1,34,999 on Amazon.in. No-name robots below Rs 10,000 are also sold, but several we saw did not list laser or LiDAR navigation.

Before you spend, weigh the price against what your time is worth. If you would otherwise pay for daily floor help, a robot can pay for itself over a year or two. Yes, for daily dust on hard floors. A robot vacuum under Rs 15,000 can keep tile and marble floors free of the fine dust that settles each day. On 28 September 2026, Amazon.in listed branded models with laser navigation at this price. The eufy L60 Hybrid was Rs 13,999 and the Haier Civic X11 was Rs 14,999. Both list 5,000 Pa suction and about 120 minutes per charge.

What you give up at this price is mostly convenience. These models have no self-emptying base, so you empty a small bin after most runs. Their mop is a light wipe, not a scrub. • Threshold climbing: check the climb height against your door sills before you buy. This one detail saves a lot of grief in Indian homes.
• Self-emptying base: the robot dumps its bin into a bigger bag, so you empty it once in weeks, not daily. A real convenience, but it adds cost.
• Mopping: a light mop helps on tile, but do not expect deep scrubbing.

Spec example: the Ecovacs Deebot N30 on Amazon.in lists 10,000 Pa suction, a 5,200 mAh battery, and up to 300 minutes of run time, with TrueMapping and mopping. • Rinse or tap the filter about once a week, and replace it as often as the maker's manual says.
• Clear the brushes of tangled hair and threads each week.
• Wipe the sensors so the robot keeps navigating well.

It showed "Currently unavailable" on 28 September 2026. Its in-stock sibling, the eufy L60 Hybrid, lists 5,000 Pa suction, laser navigation, a 20 mm climb height, and about 120 minutes per charge.

Pick the cheapest tier that fits your floor. There is no point paying for 15,000 Pa and a self-empty base if you live in a small one-room flat with bare tiles. The budget robot will do the job there.

Robot vacuum vs handheld vacuum: which is better for a small Indian apartment?

For a small Indian apartment, a handheld vacuum is the cheaper and more flexible choice, and a robot vacuum is the lower-effort one. On 28 September 2026, the corded AGARO Regal 800 W handheld vacuum was Rs 1,457 on Amazon.in, against about Rs 14,000 for a laser robot. A handheld also cleans sofas, curtains, shelves, car seats and tight corners, which a robot cannot reach.

A robot vacuum wins on effort. It runs on a schedule every day, even while you are at work, and you only empty the bin. A handheld cleans only when you pick it up. So ask one question: will you really vacuum by hand every day? If yes, buy the handheld and save the money. If no, the robot is the one that keeps the floor clean. Should you buy one? A quick checklist

You should buy a robot vacuum if your home is mostly hard floors, fairly clutter-free, and you value daily time savings over deep cleaning. You should skip it if your home is full of rugs, cords, and high door sills, or if you expect it to fully replace your mop and manual cleaning. Use the steps below to decide in two minutes.

1. Check your floors. Mostly tile or marble means a robot will shine. Lots of thick rugs means think twice.
2. Measure your door sills. If you have raised marble thresholds, pick a model whose listed climb height is higher than your tallest sill.
3. Clear a test path. Be honest about clutter. If your floor is always full of bags and cords, a robot will struggle.
4. Set your budget. Match the tier to your home size, not to the fanciest features.
5. Plan the upkeep. If you will not empty the bin and clean brushes, choose a self-emptying model or skip the buy.
6. Check for the ISI mark. From 1 October 2026, most makers need it on vacuum cleaners, including robot vacuums. See the note below.

ISI mark note (new rule from 1 October 2026): India's S.O. 1739(E) order of 6 April 2026 brings household electrical appliances under the BIS Standard Mark, using the IS 302 (Part 1): 2024 safety standard. Its list names "Vacuum Cleaners" and "DC supplied/ battery-operated vacuum cleaners", which covers robot vacuums. The mark is required for most manufacturers from 1 October 2026. Small enterprises get until 1 January 2027 and micro enterprises until 1 April 2027. Makers may also sell declared older stock for up to six months. So not every robot on sale will carry the mark yet. We could not confirm the ISI status of the models above. Look for the ISI mark and a CM/L licence number on the box or the listing before you buy.
