How Does a Window Cleaning Robot Work?
A window cleaning robot works by pulling a vacuum against the glass to hold on. The robot then sprays a little cleaner and spreads the cleaner with microfibre pads. Edge sensors read the frame. So the machine turns before the robot slides off the pane.
Think of a strong suction cup with wheels. A fan pulls air out from under the machine. That grip is what holds the robot on a vertical pane.

Here is the honest part about power. The suction fan needs a lot of energy. So most robots plug into the wall through a long cable.
The built-in battery is a safety backup, not the main power. If the plug trips, the battery holds the grip so the robot does not drop. One Tosima listing, for example, says its 650 mAh battery holds on for up to 25 minutes in a power cut.
Is a Window Cleaning Robot Worth It in India?
A window cleaning robot is worth it in India for homes with lots of high or outside glass. The robot removes the need to climb, lean out, or stand on a ladder. For small windows with grilles, a cloth and squeegee are cheaper and faster.
The real value is safety, not speed. Cleaning high glass by hand means ladders or leaning out of a window. Both are risky.

How to Use a Window Cleaning Robot Safely
To use a window cleaning robot safely, tie the safety rope to a fixed indoor object first. Fit clean pads and add a little cleaner. Place the robot flat on the glass and press start. Keep the cable clear and stay nearby until the pane is clean.
The steps below take about 15 minutes for one large window. ECOVACS lists the W1 Pro at about 2 minutes 50 seconds per square metre. So a 2 m by 2 m glass door takes about 11 minutes a side, plus set-up. Do a dry run on a low pane first.
- Anchor the safety rope — Tie the carabiner to a heavy, fixed object indoors before anything else.
- Fit clean pads — Attach fresh microfibre pads and add a few drops of glass cleaner or water.
- Place it on the glass — Set the robot flat near the middle of the pane and let the suction grip.
- Press start — Pick a cleaning mode and let the machine map and clean the window on its own.
- Keep the cable clear — Guide the power cable so it does not snag or pull the robot off the glass.
- Remove it the right way — Hold the handle, switch off the suction, then lift the robot off. Never yank it.
