Check these in order. Is the lid turned fully to LOCK / START HEATING? Heating starts only when it is locked. Is the red light on? If not, try another wall socket - and plug in directly, not through an extension cord or a strip shared with other appliances. Is there limescale inside the pot? Descale with the 2:1 water-and-vinegar method. Is the water above the MAX line? Overfilling slows heating. Cold tap water in winter also takes longer to boil.
