The InstaCuppa Electric Moka Pot is a classic Italian moka pot with its own power base — so you get the same rich, café-strength coffee without needing a stove. Fill the base with water, spoon ground coffee into the filter basket, press one button. In 3–4 minutes it brews 300 ml, or 6 espresso cups of 50 ml each, at 110°C.

Moka brewing pushes hot water up through a bed of ground coffee under gentle pressure. What comes out is concentrated and full-bodied — espresso-style coffee, strong enough to drink on its own or to build a cappuccino, latte or cold coffee on. This is the same brewing method as a stovetop moka pot; the only thing that changes is what heats it.

Solid food-grade aluminium

The chamber is a single faceted casting in food-grade aluminium with a bare-aluminium interior and a metal filter basket — about 1.1 kg all together. It is built to be used every morning and to be rinsed out and used again the same evening.

It knows when to stop

When the lower chamber runs dry, the thermostat cuts the heat automatically at 125°C. It then cycles — cooling, reheating gently, cutting out again — so the coffee in the upper chamber stays warm on indirect heat and never sits on the element. The handle stays cool to hold and the base is wide and stable.

1. Add water to the lower chamber, up to just below the safety valve — never above it.
2. Add coffee — a medium-fine grind, spooned in level. Do not tamp it.
3. Press the button. Screw the chambers together firmly first, seat the pot on its base, and switch on at the socket.

Brews anywhere there is a plug

It runs on a standard 220–240V Indian socket through an attached 1 m cord with a 3-pin plug — no adapter, no converter. Kitchen counter, office desk, hostel room or hotel: if there is a socket, there is coffee.

The pot separates into three parts and rinses clean under the tap; let everything dry before reassembling. Keep the powered base out of water — wipe it with a damp cloth — and keep every part out of the dishwasher.

Is the InstaCuppa electric moka pot actually metal, or is it plastic?

The body is food-grade aluminium — a single faceted casting with a bare-aluminium interior, an aluminium lid and a metal filter basket. The complete unit weighs about 1.1 kg. The handle, lid knob and power base are heat-resistant polymer, as they have to be; nothing that touches your coffee is plastic.

Do I need a gas stove or an induction hob?

No. This is the electric version — the pot sits on its own powered base and plugs into any standard 220–240V Indian socket with the attached 1 m 3-pin cord. There is no burner to balance it on and no induction adapter to buy, which is the usual sticking point with an aluminium stovetop moka pot.

How much coffee does it make?

300 ml per brew — 6 espresso cups of 50 ml each, or roughly 2–3 regular mugs. It is moka coffee: rich, concentrated and café-strength, and it makes a strong base for a cappuccino, latte or cold coffee.

Does it switch itself off?

It cuts the heat automatically. When the lower chamber runs dry the thermostat trips at 125°C, and then it cycles — cooling, reheating gently, cutting out again — so the brewed coffee above stays warm on indirect heat and never sits on the element. It is dry-boil protection that keeps your coffee warm, not a timer that powers the unit down for good, so switch it off at the socket when you are finished.

My coffee leaked from the bottom, or the lid popped open. What went wrong?

Almost always one of three things. Screw the two chambers together firmly, metal to metal, so the gasket seals. Fill water to just below the safety valve and never above it. And spoon the ground coffee in level — do not press or tamp it, because a tamped bed blocks the flow and forces pressure sideways. Also check that the gasket and filter plate are seated flat before you close it.

What grind should I use?

A medium-fine grind — finer than filter coffee, but coarser than the fine powder an espresso machine takes. Too fine and the bed packs down and chokes the basket; too coarse and the water runs straight through and the coffee comes out thin.

How do I clean it?

It comes apart into three pieces and rinses clean under the tap in seconds; let them dry fully before reassembling. Never put the powered base in water and never put any part in the dishwasher — wipe the base with a damp cloth only.
