Nespresso Machine in India: Price and Options

A Nespresso machine in India costs Rs 17,499 for the official-distributor bundle on Amazon India. That buys the Nespresso Essenza Mini with 2 coffee sleeves, sold by the official Nespresso distributor (price on 4 October 2026). Nespresso's own India store sells the Original range: Essenza Mini, Pixie, CitiZ and Lattissima One.

Capsules are the bigger cost. Nespresso's India store sells Original capsules at Rs 950 for a sleeve of 10. That is Rs 95 a cup. Nespresso says this Original coffee works with its CitiZ, Lattissima and Essenza machines.

Nespresso has a second system called Vertuo. Vertuo pods are a different shape and carry a barcode. Nespresso says Vertuo pods work only in Vertuo machines. So check which system a machine uses before you buy capsules.

What Is a Capsule Coffee Machine?

A capsule coffee machine uses pre-packed pods instead of loose ground coffee. You drop a capsule in, press a button, and the machine brews one cup. No grinding, no tamping, no mess. The machine punctures the capsule and forces hot water through it. People also call it a coffee pod machine or a pod coffee maker. Here, a capsule and a pod mean the same thing.

Capsule machines became popular because they remove the skill from coffee making. A beginner gets the same cup as an expert. The trade-off: pods cost more per cup than ground coffee, and you are locked into one brand's pod system.

Which Coffee Capsules and Pods Work in India?

Two capsule types are easy to find in India. Nespresso Original capsules are small aluminium pods made for espresso and lungo. Dolce Gusto capsules are larger pods with more drink types, including milk drinks. Both are sold on Amazon India.

Nespresso Original Line: Best for straight espresso. Official Nespresso capsules cost Rs 95 each at Rs 950 for 10 on Nespresso's India store. Club bundles bring that down to about Rs 80. Compatible capsules from brands like Lavazza and Coffeeza cost about Rs 50 to Rs 56 each on Amazon India. Note: Nespresso Vertuo capsules do not work in multi-system machines. Nespresso says Vertuo pods work only in Vertuo machines.

Dolce Gusto: Best for variety. You can get espresso, flat white, latte macchiato, hot chocolate and even masala chai pods. Many Nescafé Dolce Gusto capsules on Amazon India are imported from the UK. A 16-capsule Flat White box costs Rs 999, or about Rs 62 a capsule. Some milk drinks use two capsules per cup. A Starbucks Latte Macchiato box has 12 pods for 6 cups at Rs 898, so each cup costs about Rs 150. Indian brands such as KROFF sell Dolce Gusto-compatible pods for about Rs 50 each.

One Coffee Machine for Many Capsule Types: Why It Makes Sense

A single-system capsule machine locks you into one pod type. If Nespresso raises prices, you are stuck. A multi-system machine lets you switch between Nespresso, Dolce Gusto, and ground coffee.

One limit: our product page lists a Nespresso capsule adapter and does not list Vertuo. So do not buy Vertuo pods for it. No single machine takes every capsule type.

Capsule coffee machine prices in India vary a lot by brand and seller. The table shows three machines and the prices we saw on 4 October 2026. Other sellers may charge more or less.

Prices on Amazon change often, so check the listing before you buy. A small capsule coffee machine like the Essenza Mini takes only one capsule type.

What Does Each Capsule System Cost Per Cup?

How we worked out the table: we took the pack price and divided it by the number of capsules, using prices seen on 4 October 2026. For ground coffee we used 250 g packs at Rs 599 and Rs 650, and 10 g of coffee per cup. Use less coffee per cup and the cost goes down.

Cost insight: Say you drink 2 cups a day, or 14 cups a week. Make 10 of them with ground coffee and 4 with pods. With Rs 50 compatible pods, you spend Rs 460 a week instead of Rs 700 on pods only. That is about one third less, or Rs 12,480 a year. With Rs 95 official Nespresso capsules, the same mix cuts your spend by about half.
