Unplug and let it cool. For daily cleaning, rinse only the inner steel pot and wipe the outside and the touch panel with a damp cloth. Never immerse the kettle or run water over the base, where the cord plugs in. To descale (every 2-4 weeks depending on water hardness), fill the pot with a 2:1 mix of water and white vinegar, leave it overnight, pour it out and rinse 2-3 times with clean water. Rinse the inner steel pot by hand, wipe the outside and the panel with a slightly damp cloth, and keep the cord inlet in the base dry. Hand cleaning takes a minute. The lid lifts off for easy access to the inner pot, and the cord detaches. First, is it plugged into a working 230 V wall socket and is the display lit? If not, try another socket - plug in directly, not through an extension cord or a strip shared with other appliances. Is there water in the pot? Dry-boil protection stops heating if the kettle is empty. Did you press Start/Cancel after choosing a mode? Is your Set Temperature target lower than the water's current temperature? Then it will only hold, not heat. If it has just finished a long cycle, let it cool for a few minutes. Dry-boil protection cuts the power if the kettle is switched on with no water inside, protecting the heating element. If the kettle shuts off straight after you press Start/Cancel, check that there is water in the pot and add water up to the MAX line at most. After the protection trips, let the kettle cool for 10-15 minutes before using it again. It is a valuable safeguard for travel, when it is easy to get distracted.

Usually yes - it depends on the mode. In Set Temperature the kettle stops heating at your chosen temperature (say 75 °C for green tea) and then holds it, so the water will not visibly boil. Keep Warm at 50 °C only heats to 50 °C. For a rolling boil choose Boil Water (100 °C) or Dechlorinate (boils, then 3 more minutes). If Boil Water itself stops early, limescale is the usual cause - descale with the 2:1 water-and-vinegar method. If it still stops early after descaling, contact customer support.
