Those are live brand-store prices read on 16 September 2026. A real room humidifier with a 2.5 litre tank starts near Rs 1,949. Under Rs 1,000 you get a personal unit for one desk, not a room.

We noted the price, tank size, mist rate and runtime each brand prints. Seven listings were in stock. This guide is built on those seven. Short answer: Rs 582 to Rs 2,999 on brand stores on 16 September 2026. The seven in-stock listings we read fall into three bands. Personal units under Rs 1,000. Room units with a 2.5 litre tank at Rs 1,949 to Rs 2,549. Bedroom units with a 4 to 4.5 litre tank at Rs 2,999.

Every brand store also printed a struck-out "compare at" price. The InstaCuppa 4 litre showed Rs 3,999. The Agaro Verge showed Rs 4,999. The Dr Trust 907 showed Rs 3,600. Ignore those. The selling price is the price.

Two things stand out. First, tank size drives price more than anything else. Second, two brands land on the same Rs 2,999 for a 4 to 4.5 litre unit. That is the going rate for a bedroom humidifier in India right now.

Humidifier Price by Type: Ultrasonic, Evaporative and Warm Mist

Short answer: Ultrasonic is the cheapest type to buy. All seven in-stock listings we read are ultrasonic. Our own 3 litre evaporative model listed at Rs 1,499 but was out of stock. We found no in-stock warm mist unit on any brand store. So we quote no price for that type.

The US EPA sorts home humidifiers into four types. Ultrasonic units make cool mist with sound vibrations. Impeller units use a spinning disk. Evaporative units blow air through a wet wick or filter. Steam vaporizers heat water. "Warm mist" units are steam vaporizers that cool the steam before it leaves.

The EPA also notes which types shed the most into your air. Ultrasonic and impeller units "produce the greatest dispersions of both microorganisms and minerals". Evaporative and steam units "generally disperse less". That is the trade-off behind the low ultrasonic price. Cheap to buy, but you must clean it and use low-mineral water. What Do You Get Under Rs 1,000?

Short answer: A personal humidifier for one desk, one car seat or one bedside. The Rs 582 Allin mini has a 200 ml tank. It draws 3 W or less on 5 V. The Rs 999 InstaCuppa fan humidifier has a 600 ml tank and three mist levels. Its fan pushes the mist toward you. Neither is a room humidifier.

The "humidifier under 1000" search is the most common budget question we see. The honest answer is that this band buys a personal unit. Here is what the two in-stock pages say.

It adds 3 fan speeds with a 60-degree adjustable head, 5 mist vents, a 7-colour night light, a 1, 2 or 3 hour timer, an aroma oil compartment, and auto shut-off when the water runs out. It runs off any USB source rated 2 A or more, so a power bank works.

What Do You Get at Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000?

Short answer: The first real room humidifiers. The Agaro Verge at Rs 1,949 has a 2.5 litre tank and auto shut-off. It claims 24 hours on low and under 30 dB. Our own 3 litre evaporative unit listed at Rs 1,499 in this band. It was out of stock on 16 September 2026.

This is where a humidifier stops being a gadget. The Agaro Verge page lists a 2.5 litre tank and "up to 24 hours of humidifying". It has a 360-degree nozzle with low, medium and high mist. The page claims "less than 30dB". Coverage is 10 to 22 square metres. It shuts off when the water runs out. Warranty is 1 year. See Agaro humidifiers on Amazon.

Two more listings sit in this band but were not buyable when we checked. Dr Trust lists its 2 litre Dolphin at Rs 1,499. It was sold out on its own store. Our own 3 litre evaporative humidifier lists at Rs 1,499, also out of stock. It uses a cotton filter instead of an ultrasonic plate. It has dual mist outlets and three spray modes. We mention both so you know the shelf price when they return.

At Rs 1,949, the Verge is Rs 600 cheaper than the Agaro Breeze. Same brand, same 2.5 litre tank. The Breeze buys you a top-fill design and a stated 200 ml/hr mist rate. Its coverage claim is a little larger. Decide whether that is worth Rs 600 to you.

What Do You Get at Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000?

Short answer: The bedroom band. The Agaro Breeze at Rs 2,549 has a 2.5 litre top-fill tank and a 200 ml/hr mist rate. At Rs 2,999 you step up to a 4 litre InstaCuppa. It gives 250-330 ml/hr and 12-16 hours per fill. Or a 4.5 litre Dr Trust 907 with 200-300 ml/h and 12-22 hours. Both Rs 2,999 units run a full night on one fill.

Which Rs 2,999 unit is right for you? If you want the highest mist rate and the aroma compartment, the InstaCuppa. If you want the longest low-setting runtime and a printed noise figure, the Dr Trust. Both are 4 litre class units built for a closed bedroom. Neither is meant for an open hall. Is Anything Above Rs 3,000 Worth It?

Short answer: We found no in-stock brand-store listing above Rs 2,999 on 16 September 2026. Allin Exporters listed floor-standing units near Rs 5,900, all sold out. If you are quoted more than Rs 3,000, ask what you get beyond a 4 litre tank and 300 ml/hr.

The old version of this guide had a "premium" tier and a "commercial" tier. Their price ranges were made up. We have removed them. Here is what we can say honestly. Above Rs 3,000, listings add one of four things. A built-in humidistat that switches the unit on and off at a set humidity. A digital display. A larger floor-standing tank. Or a warm mist option. None of the seven in-stock units we read had a humidistat. All use a dial or buttons.

A humidistat is useful. The US EPA says not to run indoor humidity above 50 percent. But a digital hygrometer does the measuring for a fraction of the price. You turn the dial yourself. If you still want the automation, humidifiers with a humidistat are on Amazon. Read the runtime and mist rate on the listing before you pay for the display.

Which Features Actually Change the Price?

Short answer: Tank size first, mist rate second, then filters and extras. Auto shut-off is on every room unit we read. It is not a premium feature any more. A noise figure, a timer, a night light or an aroma compartment moves the price by a few hundred rupees.

Check one thing on every listing. Is the coverage claim in square feet or square metres? The Agaro Breeze says 25 square metres, which is 269 square feet. The InstaCuppa 4 litre says 215 square feet, which is about 20 square metres. The numbers look different but describe a similar bedroom. Our room sizing guide shows how to measure yours.

What Does a Humidifier Cost to Run?

Short answer: Almost nothing in electricity. The InstaCuppa 4 litre is rated 25 W on its product page. Eight hours a night is 0.2 units. A month is about 6 units. Multiply by your own per-unit rate. The real running costs are water, cleaning time and, for evaporative models, filters.

Purchase price is only the first number. Here is the monthly picture for the units we read. It uses only figures printed on their pages.

The US EPA recommends emptying and drying the tank daily. It says to clean portable humidifiers every third day. That is the real running cost of a cheap ultrasonic unit. About ten minutes of your time, three times a week.

Humidifier Size vs Price: Do Not Overpay for a Room You Do Not Have

Short answer: Match the tank and mist rate to the room, then stop. A 4 litre unit in a small study will push past the 50 percent ceiling the US EPA sets. A 600 ml unit in a 15 square metre bedroom will do nothing. Buy the cheapest unit that reaches 30 to 50 percent humidity in your room.

The US EPA's indoor air guide says to keep indoor humidity "between 30 and 50 percent". Its mold guide says "below 60 percent (ideally between 30 and 50 percent)". Its humidifier fact sheet adds a hard line. "Do not humidify to indoor relative humidity levels exceeding 50 percent." Higher humidity can encourage dust mites and mold.

So the buying rule is simple. Measure your room. Compare it to the coverage claim on the listing. Buy the smallest unit that covers it. Then check with a hygrometer for the first week. Is a Cheap Humidifier Safe?

Short answer: Yes, if you clean it and use low-mineral water. The US EPA says ultrasonic and impeller units disperse the most minerals and microorganisms from tank water. Its advice is short. Empty and dry the tank daily. Clean it every third day. Use water with low mineral content. Never run the room above 50 percent humidity. Price does not change these rules.

The safety question is not about price. It is about type and care. Every ultrasonic unit works the same way, from the Rs 582 mini to the Rs 2,999 bedroom unit. It vibrates tank water into a fine mist. Whatever is in the water goes into the air. The US EPA fact sheet says breathing mist with these pollutants "has been implicated as causing a certain type of inflammation of the lungs". It adds that the young, the elderly and people with lung disease or allergies may be more susceptible.

The EPA's care list is short. It applies at every price.

Empty the tank, wipe all surfaces dry, and refill daily. Unplug first.
