How to Use a Rice Dispenser: Fill, Press, Rinse and Refill
To use a rice dispenser, lift off the lid and pour in your rice. Put the cup under the button, press and hold, and let go when the rice reaches the mark you want. Then rinse the rice in the same cup with its strainer lid and tip it into your cooker. That is the whole job. This guide shows each step on the InstaCuppa Rice Dispenser 10kg, plus what to store in it and its honest limits.

Before You Start: Where Should a Rice Dispenser Go?
Put it on a flat counter or shelf in a dry spot. Keep it away from the stove, the sink and direct sun.
- Check the height. The dispenser is 41 cm tall. You also need a little space above it to lift the lid off.
- Check the depth. It is 32 cm from front to back and 15 to 17.5 cm wide, so it fits a narrow gap.
- Leave room in front. The cup sits under the button, so keep the front clear.

Step 1: How Do You Fill a Rice Dispenser?
- Lift the main lid off. It comes off fully. There is no hinge.
- Pour the rice in straight from the bag. It holds up to 10 kg.
- Keep the rice below the rim, so the lid sits flat.
- Put the lid back on top.
Only the lid comes off. The bin and the base stay as one piece, so you fill it from the top every time.

Step 2: How Do You Get Rice Out?
- Put the clear measuring cup under the button.
- Press and hold the button. Rice falls into the cup.
- Watch the marks on the cup: 100 g, 300 g and 500 g.
- Let go of the button to stop.
How much comes out with one press? The amount per press is not fixed. Rice keeps flowing while you hold the button, and the cup fills fast. So you decide how much: watch the marks and let go at your amount. The marks are a guide, not a weighing scale.
The cup holds up to 500 g. If you need more, empty the cup into your pot, then press again.

Step 3: How Do You Wash Rice in the Strainer Cup?
You can wash rice in the same cup it came out in. No extra bowl or sieve is needed.
- Add water to the rice in the cup.
- Swirl the rice with your hand or a spoon.
- Put the strainer lid on the cup.
- Tip the cup and pour the water out through the strainer lid. The rice stays in.
- Do this two or three times, until the water looks less cloudy.
- Tip the rice into your cooker.

Step 4: How Do You Know When to Refill?
Look at the window on the front. It shows the rice level, so you can see when it is low without opening the lid.
When the level is low, lift the lid off and pour in the next bag. If you can, let the old rice run low first, so it gets used before the new rice.
How Do You Use the Herb Basket in the Lid?
The main lid has a small round basket with a cap. Put a few tej patta (bay leaves) or laung (cloves) in it and close the cap.
This is a traditional way that helps keep pantry bugs away. It is not a guarantee. Change the herbs about once a month. For more ways to protect rice at home, read our guide on how to prevent rice weevils.

What Can You Put in a Rice Dispenser?
Small, dry grains under about 1.2 cm flow out best.
| Good to store | Do not store |
|---|---|
| Rice (chawal), all kinds of dry rice | Atta and other flour |
| Dals such as toor, chana, masoor, urad | Sugar |
| Pulses such as sabut moong | Liquids |
| Millets, poha, sabudana | Large beans such as rajma and kabuli chana |

How Do You Look After It Day to Day?
- Hand wash the lid, the measuring cup and the strainer lid. Dry them fully.
- To clean the bin, empty it and wipe the inside with a dry cloth.
- It is hand wash only. Do not put any part in the dishwasher.
- Make sure every part is dry before you add rice again.
