What Should You Check First?

Start with the basics. Most "my machine stopped working" complaints have a simple cause. Here are 12 fixes in order of how common they are.

1. Check the water tank — is it empty or not seated properly? Push it until it clicks.
2. Check the power supply — is the outlet working? Try a different outlet. Use a voltage stabiliser in areas with fluctuations.
3. Wait for heat-up — did you press brew before the machine was ready? Wait for the LED to show ready (about 40 seconds).
4. Check the adapter — is it locked in properly? Twist until it clicks. A loose adapter causes leaks.
5. Unclog the brew head — old coffee grounds can block the water path. Run the self-cleaning cycle.
6. Descale the machine — limescale from hard water blocks the thermoblock. Descale with citric acid solution.
7. Check for scale buildup on the tank connector — white deposits can block water flow from tank to pump.
8. Prime the pump — if the machine sat unused for weeks, air may be in the lines. Run water through without coffee until flow is steady.
9. Check the grind — grind too fine can choke the machine. Water cannot pass through. Use coarser grind.
10. Clear a jammed capsule — a damaged or wrong-size pod can jam the adapter. Remove and inspect.
11. Let it cool down — some machines overheat with heavy back-to-back use. Wait 5 minutes.
12. Factory reset — unplug for 30 seconds, plug back in. This resets the electronics.

When Should You Call Service?

Call service when you have tried all 12 fixes and the machine still does not work. Signs of a real defect:

• Pump makes no noise at all when you press brew.
• Water leaks from inside the machine body (not from the adapter area).
• LED screen does not turn on even with confirmed power.
• Burning smell from the machine.
