Best Air Purifier in India 2026: The Quick Answer
For most homes, pick a purifier with a HEPA filter (grade H13, or "True HEPA") and a CADR that fits your room. On 28 September 2026, good-brand models for a bedroom or a small living room cost about ₹8,000 to ₹17,000 on Amazon.in. If it will run at night, look for a sleep mode.
We looked at filter type, CADR, room size and price. We read India buyer reviews too. We did not lab-test these purifiers ourselves, so every spec below is the maker's own figure. Brands like Coway, Philips, Xiaomi (Mi) and Honeywell show up most. A model in this price range suits most bedrooms and small living rooms.
Below we show how to pick one. We add a clear comparison table. We are honest about what a purifier can and cannot do.
How to Pick an Air Purifier for Your Room
Pick by filter type, CADR, room size, and budget. These four points decide your result. Here is what each one means for you.
Filter type: A HEPA filter traps fine dust and pollen. Look for grade H13 or "True HEPA". A carbon layer also helps with smells and smoke.
CADR: This is the clean air delivery rate. A higher number cleans the room faster. Indian listings give it in m³/h (cubic metres per hour).
Room size: Match the CADR to your room. A bigger room needs a higher CADR. Use the 2/3 rule below.
Budget: Honeywell, Xiaomi and Philips all sell models under ₹10,000. Coway's AirMega 150 costs ₹16,999. Dyson starts at ₹29,900. These are Amazon.in prices on 28 September 2026.
What CADR Do I Need? The 2/3 Rule
AHAM, the US home appliance makers' group behind the CADR test, gives a simple rule. The CADR should be at least two-thirds of the room's floor area. AHAM gives CADR in cubic feet per minute (cfm) and the room in square feet. Its example is a 10 by 12 foot room. That is 120 sq ft, so it needs a smoke CADR of at least 80.
Indian listings show CADR in m³/h. One cfm is about 1.7 m³/h. So here is a quick guide. Take your room's area in sq ft and multiply it by 1.13. That is the m³/h CADR you need. A 120 sq ft bedroom needs about 136 m³/h. A 250 sq ft living room needs about 283 m³/h.
Treat this as a rough guide. Some listings in India, such as Xiaomi's and Philips's, use a Chinese test, GB/T 18801, not AHAM's test. Makers' room sizes also vary a lot. Philips lists its AC0920 (250 m³/h) for rooms up to 30 m², about 320 sq ft, on its India site. Its Amazon listing says up to 700 sq ft by another method. By the 2/3 rule, 250 m³/h suits about 220 sq ft. Go by the CADR, not the room size on the box.
Air Purifier Comparison: Price, Filter & Best For
Here is how the common India options stack up. The prices are from Amazon.in on 28 September 2026. Prices move with sales, so treat them as a guide.
| Type | Typical Price (INR) | Filter | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Budget (Honeywell, Xiaomi, Philips) | ₹4,800–₹10,000 | HEPA, often with carbon | Bedrooms, small rooms, first buy |
| Mid-range (Philips, Xiaomi, Coway) | ₹11,000–₹24,000 | HEPA H13 or True HEPA, usually with carbon | Living rooms, bedrooms |
| Premium (Dyson) | ₹29,900–₹68,900 | HEPA or electrostatic filter, smart sensors | Large rooms, smart homes |
Note: a budget or mid-range unit with the right CADR suits most homes. A premium model adds smart features and covers bigger rooms.
Popular Air Purifier Models in India: Prices and CADR (28 September 2026)
These are the models that came up most on Amazon.in when we checked on 28 September 2026. All were in stock that day. We did not test them. The CADR and room sizes are the makers' own figures. The last column shows the room size each CADR suits by the 2/3 rule.
| Model | Price on Amazon.in | CADR (maker) | Maker's room size | Room by the 2/3 rule |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Honeywell Air Touch V1 | ₹4,839 | Up to 152 m³/h | Up to 235 sq ft | About 134 sq ft |
| Philips AC0920 (900 Series) | ₹8,499 | 250 m³/h | Up to 30 m² (about 320 sq ft) | About 220 sq ft |
| Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Lite | ₹12,999 | 360 m³/h | 269 to 463 sq ft | About 318 sq ft |
| Coway AirMega 150 (AP-1019C) | ₹16,999 | 303 (Coway India gives no unit) | Up to 355 sq ft (33 m²) | Not worked out, unit unclear |
| Dyson Hushjet Purifier Compact (HJ10) | ₹29,900 | Not given on the listing | Up to 1,076 sq ft | Not worked out |
| Dyson Purifier Big+Quiet | ₹68,900 | Not given on the listing | Up to 1,100 sq ft | Not worked out |
See how far a maker's room size can sit above the 2/3 rule. The Honeywell figure assumes 2 air changes an hour, its listing says. The Xiaomi figure comes from a GB/T 18801 test, Xiaomi's India page says. For a bedroom of about 120 sq ft, any of the first three has enough CADR by the 2/3 rule. For a 250 sq ft living room, look at 283 m³/h or more.
What a HEPA Filter Captures (and What It Doesn't)
A HEPA filter of grade H13 must trap at least 99.95% of particles at the size that slips through most easily. That is the European standard, EN 1822. The US "True HEPA" standard is at least 99.97% of particles at 0.3 microns, says the US EPA. Both catch PM2.5, dust, pollen, and mould spores. They work on the tiny bits you cannot see.
But a HEPA filter has limits. It does not remove gases or smells on its own. For that, you need a carbon filter too. A purifier filters the air in a room. It does not fix the air outside.
Which HEPA filter is best? H14 traps even more, at least 99.995%. But a better grade does not help much if the fan is too weak for your room. For a home, get H13 or True HEPA, then check the CADR.
Skip purifiers that make ozone. The US EPA says to avoid air cleaners that make ozone on purpose, because ozone is a lung irritant. It also warns that some ionizers, plasma cleaners and electrostatic precipitators may give off ozone. Read the listing before you buy. Running Cost and Filter Replacement
The filter is the main running cost. Most makers rate a filter for about a year. Philips and Honeywell say up to one year. Coway rates its AirMega 150 filter at 8,500 hours, about 1.5 to 2 years. Bad-air months use a filter up faster.
We checked genuine filters on Amazon.in on 28 September 2026. The Honeywell Air Touch V1 filter cost ₹1,799. The Philips FY0900 filter for the AC0920 cost ₹2,164. The Coway AirMega 150 filter set cost ₹4,999. A Dyson filter for its older Pure models cost ₹6,349.
The power use is low for most units. Philips says the AC0920 uses 21 W at full power. Xiaomi says the 4 Lite uses 33 W, or about 0.8 units a day if it runs all day. At 12 hours a day, that is about 8 to 12 units a month. At an example rate of ₹8 a unit, that is under ₹100 a month. India faces high outdoor pollution in many cities. So a purifier can help reduce indoor dust during bad-air months. Plan for one filter change per year in your budget.

What CADR do I need for my room?
Use the AHAM 2/3 rule. The CADR in cfm should be at least two-thirds of the room's area in sq ft. For a CADR in m³/h, multiply the room's sq ft by about 1.13. A 120 sq ft bedroom needs about 136 m³/h.

The power use is low, about 8 to 12 units a month at 12 hours a day for a 21 to 33 W model. The main cost is the filter, which most makers rate for about a year. Genuine filters we checked cost about ₹1,800 to ₹5,000.
Which HEPA filter is best, H13 or H14?
H14 traps more particles (at least 99.995%) than H13 (at least 99.95%). Both are very fine filters. A higher grade does not help much if the fan is too weak for your room, so check the CADR first.
